Extra Info: If you're thinking that you've seen these here before , you'd be correct as I purchased from them a fellow SNA'er. (I'm indebted to enrico99 for the photos below.) If you're also thinking that these are "doing the round" and therefore not much good, you'd be drawing the wrong conclusion.
Like enrico99 I have not been able to find a lot of info on these other than they are made in China and I have to say, to a very pleasing standard, using quality drivers and components. SQ is excellent on the mid to upper range and bass definitely benefits from being close to a rear wall. I have had these bi-wired and driven by a 30 watt, high current, British amp the Onyx AO22, with great results.
Solid enclosure in attractive walnut veneer cabinets come in at 6kg and look just as good with covers off owing to clever magnetic screws design. Dimensions:310mm high x 170mm wide x 260mm deep
Pick up from Cremorne will be given first preference.

FS: VPI Scout motor part

I bought a VPI Scout last year and had issues with the motor part. Eventually a new motor part was sourced and the VPI Scout was sold.
Issues: (1) The plastic pulley worked loose from the spindle. After contacting VPI, I was advised to alloy superglue to it. The first few attempts did not work but a two pack appears to be holding. (2) Note the edge of the round plate holding down the motor is lifting slightly. VPI (Matt Weisfield no less) explained that they ran out of motor parts due to OEM specs issue and had to use other types. I think the different motor did not fit as well and as a result the round holding plate has a slight deformity.
Other than that, the motor works well.
Dimension of the box (which is very well padded) is 27cm x 27cm x 27 cm, 2.9kg for those who wants to calculate postage.

We've bought a dodgy old Akai system with turntable (with new stylus) for our son's bedroom.
Anything would be better than the all-in-one vintage Rekkid player he had going before....
The system didn't come with any speakers (they were no doubt trashed) so I need to buy some cheapies for this 40W rated amplifier (part of the Akai AM-U310 system). They will need to be wired speakers for the amp.
Anyone got some lying around that they don't need, were going to throw, and couldn't be bothered putting on ebay/Gumtree?

Extra Info: I am the original owner (Purchased in 1995 from Caxton Audio). Finished in beautiful mahogany timber veneer. All internal cables has been upgraded to Nordost flatline Gold, and the crossover parts also has been upgraded to higher spec point to point with hand wound coils by the manufacturer (John Riley of Audio Synergy). The drivers are all Japan made Tonegen. The cabinets are well braced and the bottom mid/bass drivers are enclosed in a separate chamber to minimise energy transfer. bass reflex system with 2 rear firing ports (one each for upper and low chambers) for each cabinet.These are very efficient speakers (92.5db/s.p.l @ 1 watt), I have driven them with 12 watt single ended valve amp (Audio Note) and they perform very well. These are suitable for 2 channel audio or can be used as a main speakers in a home theatre. Good quality QED bi-wire speaker cable also included in the sale.
I have the original packaging, would be suitable for local pick-up as these are heavy. But if you can organise a courier happy to assist.

70 HD
So! channel 70 HD has been raving on about the footy and indeed the channel 70 itself being in glorious HD .That's fine but what about the sound?
My receiver is flagging the footy etc as being in DD, but it's only 2 channel DD. All the other HD channel are in DD 5.1 etc when they are flagged as DD. WHY not on 70!
