Bought it year end of 2014. Arrived in Jan 2015.

My volume knob is alive, so occasionally it is a bit loose, and some days a bit tight, depending on its mood, otherwise perfect.

So, it's not for the faint-hearted.

The price is considered good. Condition is great, besides my knob.

Thanks for looking!

Richter Excalibur history

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone had any involvement/knowledge of these speakers since I have had a pair since 1995.

Bought from Secher Audio from George Secher in Highfield Rd Camberwell.

Have operated flawlessly for me over the years and wondering what would be an equivalent competitor nowadays.

Some specs:

Excalibur main speakers Sub-woofers: Twin carbon-fibre coned 160mm long-throw woofers, Kapton voice coils, rubber surrounds, Kevlay spider assembly, hand-doped with a onecoat compound Bass-midrange 160mm critically damped curvilinear paper cone with rubber surround Tweeter: Double-chambered with aluminium dome and voice coil assembly with diffuser Crossover: Incorporates polypropelene non-ageing, selfhealing signal pass capacitors with ultra-low loss characteristics, zero-distortion air-cored inductors, 3-way asymmetric, heavy duty cabling Enclosure: 60 litre bass reflex filled with long-haired sheep wool, heavy 3-way binding post connection, high density MDF board Frequency response: 34Hz–22Khz ±3dB Sensitivity: 91 dB/watt, on-axis @ 1 metre Nom. impedance: 4 Ohms Rec.amp power: max 150 watts RMS Dimensions (mm): H 965, W 230, D 395. Weight 25kgs

Drivers were: Seas tweeter,
                     Audax midrange and woofers.

My stuff: Parasound P3/A23     Rega RP3 with2MBronze and other upgrades, Lounge Audio LCR MkIII p/stage, Marantz SA8005 SACD player, Audio principe interconnects(between amp/preamp) Benchmark series 400 interconnect from preamp to source. Audio Principe speaker cable.

Thanks,

Matt

Item: ATC SCM19 v2 Monitor speakers (Melbourne) - Black Ash
Location: Melbourne
Price: $3000 (ono)
Item Condition:  Excellent condition
Reason for selling:  I've been buying a crap load of hi fi recently and need to clear some funds.
I brought these new from Stereophonics in Melbourne about a year ago for ~$4500.  Excellent value at that price, let alone $3000.

Currently I don't have an amp that matches optimally with these speakers.   I've recently been exploring moderate powered class A solid-state / valve amplification and more sensitive speakers.

The ATC SCM19s are among the most linear and truthful speakers around - they're ever so slightly on the warm site of neutral.  Overall, pros include great timing, great midrange and great bass. Highs are slightly rolled off up high, which makes for a non-fatiguing presentation.  Serious Buyers are welcome to come have a listen, I'm available most evenings in Armadale.

Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (buyer pays fees)
Extra Info:  There are plenty of reviews on the net giving rave reviews for these speakers.  Just be warned, they need lots of power to truly come to life.. 85dB sensitivity.  Metal grill covers included in sale as well as original boxes.

want to swap single shelf from Selby stackable rack

$

I have re jigged my rack and need an additional small (not mini) sized shelf
Selby sold these (unbranded) racks as seconds about 12 years ago. Sold in Melbourne only I think.
They are Black only stackable spiked shelves with 3 legs each
There is a photo in "djb's listening room" thread in the show case forum
I have several spare shelves I could swap (bought 2 rack sets)

Replacing speaker jumper bars

My new single wire speaker cables ment I needed to return the old metal jumper bars on to the speaker binding posts. After a week of listening I replaced the metal jumpers with a very short length of quality speaker cable and was surprised at the improvement. I realise this isn't anything new to most of you but for a free upgrade I was very happy!

FS: Antipodes Reference Speaker cable (3m pair) - Melbourne

$

0

Item: Antipodes Reference Speaker cable (3m pair - silver/gold cable)
Location: Melbourne
Price: $1300 (ono)
Item Condition: Excellent
Reason for selling:  I've been buying too much hi-fi so need to liberate some funds.
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (buyer pays fees),
Extra Info:  Very rare Antipodes Reference speaker cables.

2x3 meter pls note. 1 cable for each channel total 4 cables. Spade to spade connectors.

One of the best speaker cables I've ever heard - extremely clean sounding with great imaging, timing and bass.  Antipodes cables stack up pretty well against Cardas Clear, Purist Audio, etc.

Also, these sound their best with matching Antipodes interconnect cables (they sound better with antipodes than with my Cardas Clear ICs... much more neutral).   I could probably part with a pair - I have both XLR and RCA type.

Like most silver speaker cables they prefer to be matched with slightly warm sounding speakers and very good electronics, otherwise there's a chance the highs will sound slightly harsh.

Serious buyers welcome to audition the cables, my no. is 0431 295 244.

Audiophilia Review:- "... nothing short of remarkable in their musicality and refinement. Superb bass and wonderful ability to portray accurate dynamics. Like all his products I’ve heard and reviewed, Jenkins’ Reference Cables are winners." http://www.audiophilia.com/reviews/2016/1/29/antipodes-audio-reference-interconnects-and-speaker-cable

Bridging Rotel RB1070's

$
0
0

Just wondering if anyone has used 2 Rotel RB1070's in bridge mode and what your thoughts-finding were please.(I remember a few years ago someone on SNA doing this)

I've mentioned this before on SNA ,but now I think I really want to try this and start looking for another 1070 .

I've read reports of higher distortion etc, when doing this, but only by very small increases - with my old system and ears I doubt I'd notice.

Also I have been told I'd be better off buying a 'better' more powerful amp, but the price of a 300wpc power amp is out of my budget.

So, please let me know if you have thoughts on this and especially if you have done it.

Getting bored with my old set-up and want to try something different for not much money.

Cheers, Grumpy.
