My stepson is all of a sudden very keen on getting into a vinyl setup and so he asked me to source some gear for him. I'd really like to set him up with a nice little amp, a decent Turntable (preferably something a little older that might look cool as well) and a pair of speakers.
Pricewise i'd think about $100-$200 for the amp. ( a little more for something special), Less that $400 for the tt and up to a couple of hundred for the speakers..
I would hope to get away with less than a grand...well less if possible but he'd be happy to pay more for the right gear. I could spend more on speakers or TT if need be as he could use my trusty old Monarch amp to get him going.
Re the speakers. No bookshelves. Only larger speakers with some decent bottom end. They don't have to be ultra accurate, just something that has some depth and heft. He'll be playing lots of rock, metal and Floyd...
So if you have any gear you think might fir the bill, please let me know
