Item Condition: All drivers are in fully working condition with minor dings in dust caps (see pic). Black vinyl veneer has marks, scratches showing sings of age and use. Cabinet is in excellent condition with no damage to the panels. Chipboard 'feet' on one of the speaker seem worn out a bit. Visually - 7/10, Functionally - 10/10

I bought these from a guy in Brunswick more than a year ago. I didn't know anything about these speakers and neither did I care to check as they were meant to be temporary and I wasn't expecting much from them. Got them home, connected them up and was blown away. And they stayed with me since then.
When I tried to look up on internet I was surprised that I couldn't find anything. Nothing at all - not a single pic or mention. Its like these speakers never existed! They are not even on sites like vintage knob and hifiengine. Now these obviously are genuine Pioneers, which one can tell just by looking at the drivers (the mid is same as used in HPM series I believe). So I think that these could have been a Japanese market only model and perhaps these were never sold in any other country? So these are kind of 'very very rare' in a way... Could be a worthwhile addition to any Pioneer collector.
How do these sound - very nice smooth, punchy and detailed without sounding harsh or clinical. That mid range driver is a gem of a driver. I can say 'mids' are the strength of these speakers. Tone and timbre is pretty nice as well, voices and acoustic guitar sound really nice and believable. Efficiency seems to be >=90db so can be used well with low powered amps.
