I've bought a few new records lately from big chain stores.
Not impressed.
These seem to be mastered from the digital CD masters. They dont seem to be any better than a CD.
Purchased Lorde, Pure heroine. Took it to Buzzlightyears and gave it a spin. He then put on his daughters CD and it sounded much the same.
My daughter pleaded with me to buy Taylor Swift, 1989 from Target tonight. Gave it a spin and couldn't help thinking streaming it off Tidal or Spotify was better sounding.
Seems to be a theme with modern artists that the vinyl masters are just the digital masters.
I bought a copy of Shine on you crazy diamond from JB, and it sounded sweet. I'm thinking it was an original master or remaster.
Seems a lot of the new artists material, when sold on vinyl is all puff and fluff. Nice gate fold outers, paper sleeves (which I dont like) lots of cover art, but no substance. May as well buy digital.
Anyone agree with this??
