I listen to a fair variety of music from Ministry of Sound to Ben Folds and Joao Gilberto to Verdi. In that mix is a fair amount of choral music.
My speakers are B&W PM1s running through a Rotel RB 1582 fed from a Rotel RA12 I've got acting as a pre amp. Most of my music is played through iTunes/BitPerfect on an old Mac mini though a Peachtree X1 USB/SPDIF to the RA12.
I'm experiencing distortion in the right speaker with some choral music. I don't play at particularly high volumes but the distortion occurs with some of the louder moments. It's doesn't just occurs with the bread and butter MP3s but also some higher res files.
Is the distortion a function of the speaker itself (and therefore something wrong with the speaker) or are there other factors that create distortion.
I bought the speakers second hand months ago so maybe they have something wrong with them. Where should I start looking to resolve the distortion problem? Thoughts?
