Can I use a Projector in my lounge room?

Hi all,

In a previous post here I mention my plasma is on the way out.. So I just want to check to see if I can possibly use a projector in my situation..

In my lounge room, I currently have both HiFi and HT in the same room.. One day that may change...

So currently we sit 3m away from the TV wall. Total length of room is 4.5 with no way to move the seats any further back... Stereo speakers 1.8m apart.. The room is not a bright room and can be darkened easily. Hoping any projector would go on the ceiling just behind us...

As to price.... I did suggest to my wife that going to a projector would be a better choice than a new TV 😀. Maybe $3,000 for projector and what ever for a screen to get me going...Which means it might need to be a three to a least five year purchase... Not too many shops over here in Adelaide that deal with projectors but one has a "last one" JVC x35 @ $3,300..

The plasma has been for years a monitor only as the analogue tuner is no longer used.. Everything goes via hdmi my Denon receiver to TV, from Telstra TV to oppo 105, mede8er box and TiVo. Mostly watch 1080p with cable I stream HD from Nextfix etc can go 4K one day..
