Item: Thorens TD160B MkII, AudioMods Classic arm, AT150E/G cartridge (Pick up only)

Location: Sydney (Upper Nth Shore)

Price: $1,400 (no cart); $1550 (with AT150E/G); $2000 (with Dynavector Karat DV23RS)

Item Condition: Cosmetically and operationally close to perfect. Turntable serviced with new springs and grommets, new belt and main bearing cleaned and re-oiled. A custom built plinth and sit-on dustcover completes a stunning looking package.

With the AudioMods tonearm, and the AT150E/G, it sounds truly excellent. The combination is worthy of an even better cartridge and I’ve had great success with a Benz Glider, Ortofon Rohmann and Dynavector 17D3. The Dynavector DV23RS would be an excellent partner.

The AudioMods tonearm is in perfect condition and is frankly, the best modified Rega tonearm that I’ve heard. The arm is terminated with a 5 pin connector and I will include a high quality 5pin to rca phono cable. Box and paperwork included. Check the AudioMods website for more information: http://www.audiomods.co.uk/completearms.html

The Audio Technica AT150E/G is a vintage cartridge I purchased NOS around 2008, while living in Hong Kong. It would very conservatively have around 400 hours on it (likely closer to 300). Box and paperwork included.

The Dynavector 23RS is NOS, purchased 12 months ago and only mounted for testing purposes. It has less than 10 hours on it. This cartridge, with the RS signifying it has a Ruby/Sapphire cantilever, was the predecessor of the 17D2 and 17D3 cartridges and was their statement cartridge (over the 23R) at the time of its release in the mid to late 80’s. Having owned the 17D2 and 17D3, in my opinion the 23RS is every bit as good as the two 17Ds and marginally easier to align with its 2.3mm cantilever compared to the 1.7mm of the 17D series cartridges. Box and paperwork included.

Reason for selling: I have numerous quality turntables and this statement piece is getting minimal use as I don’t like to move around my other belt-drive spinner (SOTA Sapphire III) because it has a fragile sapphire bearing and it’s bloody heavy. This is a piece that deserves to be front and centre in a system as it is as stunning to look at as it is to listen to! It will be hard to let this go – it has the highest WAF factor of any of my turntables and is a beautiful sounding combination.

Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, COD Only

Extra Info: This is absolutely pick up only.

Pictures: Here are a few that I have handy with an Ortofon Rohmann mounted. Over the next couple of days I will take some additional pictures.
