Items 1 & 2: Magnepan 1.7 with Black & Metal Trim + Wyred4Sound ST-1000 stereo amplifier
Location: Sydney Northern Beaches
Price: Speakers $2,000 (RRP $4,000); Amplifier $1,400 (RRP $3,100 for Mk2). Prefer to sell as the terrific combo it is, so I will give preference to such lucky buyers
N.B. For $3,750 total price I will also throw in my 3m single run of Analysis Plus Oval 9 speaker cable (all bananas) (RRP $1,000+). Currently on the Forum for $625.
Items’ Condition: Excellent 9/10.
Reason for selling: Going single-ended + horns— I would keep the speakers IF there were an affordable single-ended amp capable of driving them.
Payment Method: Pickup (or delivery within 30km)- Cash, Paypal, COD Only
Extra Info: I am the original owner. The speakers have lived in a non-smoking, pet-free house. They have performed flawlessly. These speakers are rightly called the “affordable loudspeaker of the decade” (The Absolute Sound). It is important to drive them properly and that’s why I am also selling my Wyred4Sound ST-1000 integrated amp (with 1100 watts into the Maggie’s 4 ohm load) as a combination. The speakers come with the Manual and boxes but are a pain to repack, so I prefer pickup. I am including a set of Cardas rhodium jumpers, gold fuses and the little detachable screw-in ‘tuning’ apparatus I have made for the binding posts; it consists of a RF 10 uHenry choke plus a Dueland Carbon 1.5 ohm resistor (superior to the Maggie-supplied ones). This settles the overall treble response in my own bright listening room. Yours may differ, of course.
The sound and performance of the 1.7’s is already legendary; J. Valin had this to say: “They are intoxicatingly realistic. There is something about Maggies that simply sounds like the real thing, particularly in the midrange, particularly on voices. Maggies aren't the only speakers that have this supreme gift (Magicos have it, too-in spades--and so do CLXes). But some combination of neutrality, coherence, transient speed, image size, dispersion, dimensionality and bloom, and resolution of texture has always made Maggies sound more real than a large percentage of their competition. Here-with the right recordings, at the right levels-that realism (at least in the midband) is very nearly as close as I've come to the absolute sound in my listening room, and simply unmatched for a speaker at this price point (or, really, anything even remotely close to its price point).”

Item 2: Wyred 4 Sound ST1000 stereo power amp
Price: $1,400 (see above)
Item Condition: 9/10. I can’t see any flaws.
Reason for selling: Not needed
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, COD, Paypal +3%, Postage at buyer's cost
Extra Info: Have Box & Manual. I am the original owner. This amplifier is a powerhouse, giving 570W at 8 ohms and 1140 at 4 ohms. It offers a very balanced sound, “clean, clear and transparent”… “a remarkably liquid and life-like presentation”… “(It) strikes gold is in overall smoothness, neutral tonal balance, low noise and resolution of low-level information.” It has functioned reliably, is lightweight and economical. I have always used it with a tube preamplifier.
