I have a Rega Planar 3 with a RB300 arm a Denon 301 Mk2 cart. I read somewhere on here that the ideal for Denon carts is to raise the tonearm 4mm to get the right VTA. The tonearm is raised around 2mm from the installation of a metal brace so I have 2mm to go. The problem is that if I raise the tonearm another 2mm there is no thread for the nut at the bottom of the plinth. My idea is to carefully remove the black veneer which seems about 2mm thick and go from there. Does anyone have an experience in doing this or can think of any alternatives to what I am proposing or think it's a waste of time?
