G'day all, many of my phono stages now have a few years on them and whilst the often asked question is 'break in', what about component aging and consequent performance degradation and what might be called 'break down'.
We all know about re-capping for example and valve aging due to mainly cathode emission reduction due to aging and use, but what about other things like subtle change in transistor parameters, and even op amp 'aging'. Does this happen? Personally from my own observations with DIY work, it may be subtle but I think that it does happen. Any comments or thoughts? Regards, Felix.
