I bought this Oppo from a forum member (see original add http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php/topic/100853-oppo-bdp-83-region-free-modified-blu-ray-player/?hl=oppo ) hoping to repair and use for SACD playback. I have had Avdigitech (authorised seller and repairer) here in Brisbane inspect and quote on the repair. The player needs a new SACD/DVD mechanism. Quote for repair is $350-400. I decided to not repair the Oppo.
As per the previous add, the CD player works well - I have been listening to Mahler symphonies all afternoon. Previous seller also said BluRay player still worked but I haven't verified that. I already have a couple of CD players so don't need another.
Would still be a very good reasonably priced CD player.
The unit does present very well.
Preference will be given for a local buyer in Brisbane but will post if no local buyer presents by tomorrow night.
