Having recently moved from electrostats which require high powered amplification, to horns, which don't, I find myself with a 500w amp driving ~105dB speakers.
Conventional wisdom says that I should get a *much* lower-powered amp - even a flea powered SET.
What I'm wondering is, what advantage will that bring? Is a low powered amp better at driving highly efficient speakers?
Conversely, yes there would be a lot of redundant power, but is there any reason why a high powered amp would sound worse with highly efficient speakers ?
