Howdy.
I am in the middle of updating my hifi system & have a RP3 with the PSU. I currently have a Ortofon Blue cart and looking to upgrade this to something new, most likely a MC
I am hoping to match the TT up with a Manley Stingray & a suitable set of complimenting speakers, which are yet to be decided. I am trying to get these secondhand to make the most of my cash.
While I test my limited patience in finding the right Stingray, I plan to make do some upgrades to my RP3. I currently have a Ortofon Blue cart and looking to upgrade this to something new, most likely a MC.
I have been told my numerous people the best upgrade I could make is the stuff through groovetracer, especially the sub platter. I am not sure which sub model is most suitable for my level of rig (i.e. reference, deluxe or standard). I am also looking at their platters but again, have the same issue. Is it the smart choice for me to go all out on the Derlin, or would the acrylic be just as good based on the rest of my pieces ( i currently have the Rega glass platter ).
Finally, should i consider their counterweight too? or am i getting a little overboard?
Basically just trying to get a feel for which upgrades are the best choices for my proposed system. I am hoping that any upgrades i make to this unit will be the only i ever make to that part of it and that i outgrow the player completely, before considering upgrading the platter or sub platter again.
I listen to a lot of rock (majority 60's & 90's era) & to a lesser extend, an equal amount of blues, funk, country, acoustic and most things in-between
If anyone can give me some advice on how I should approach and prioritise this - much much appreciated.
Better yet, if anyone know someone with a Manley Stingray they want to sell - hook a brother up!
