Hi all
I have an opportunity to purchase a pair of Yamaha AST T100 floorstanders (to serve as front speakers for my AV system) at a (seemingly) very reasonable price.
They certainly look the business (mint like the picture below I downloaded from the interwebs), and I have read that they sound pretty good.
However...I am confused a bit as to this technology: apparently you need a suitable cartridge within your (Yamaha) amplifier to drive them correctly. Ie the active servo bit only works with an active servo amp. Does this mean they need a AST Yamaha amp in order to work?...I don't have one of those. I haven't heard them working yet, but I would appreciate if any knowledgeable SNers out there know a bit about these speakers / this tech, so that I can make an informed decision, before I drive for the hour or so to check them out.
These speakers were made in the early 90s (I think), & there isnt much info out there freely available. I have turned up some info from Japanese sites - they seem to be popular there.
Thanks in advance, knowledgeable speaker folk!
