The Intimate Anatomy Of Two Sockets

I just received a Clipsal 25D double pole power point (unfortunately didn't read the fine print, BEIGE :() and having a curious mind, a screwdriver and entirely too much time on my hands, I though I would see what makes it tick.

I had an unused standard Clipsal power point 2025 WE on hand so I pulled it apart to see what, if anything was different.

The only real difference aside from a lot more brass (or is it copper, I'm not a metallurgist) due to the double pole switching is that the clips for the active and neutral are wider in the 25D and the gap between the clips where the pins of the plugs go is a lot narrower than on the 2025 giving in theory a firmer grip.

The weight of the 25D innards is 85g and the 2025's innards weigh 52g

The other advantage of the 25D is that the switches are offset, not directly above the socket, so I am hoping that will make it easier to switch the power point on and off when using oversize Furutech plugs.
