Hello, im a newbie with hifi ☺ wanting to setup my dads old home 1987 hifi system again for him, any help with info greatly appreciated.
He has a yamaha rx-500/u amplifier reciever with a
nice phono amp with red & white leads and an earth wire, yamaha kx-200/u cassette deck & a cdx-410/u with db plus 990 digital monitor speakers. The amplifier is 50 watts per channel, but i remember bitd it sounded like alot more power, the speakers were really efficient. I wasn't sure if i should give the above details of the system to suit a turntable? I can give further info on the the amp if need be.. for a new or vintage turntable, but i can if it helps.
Im looking for a solid base unit turntable that doesn't pick up any feedback from the stylis from the speakers in a medium size lounge room. I do like the era correct turntable's like the yamaha gt-750 or a technics 1210 maybe..?
I was keen on direct drive, but maybe a belt drive would be better.? Was their a nice quality yamaha turntable 240v for australia in the past that didn't need a voltage selector power supply as with a gt-750 made in Japan only.? I do love the gt series though..
Sorry for too many questions, im new at this again.
Pic below is for reference only of my system, as my own system is getting serviced. My budget is at best from $500.00 or maybe more to almost $2000.00. The new re-released technics 1200gae is available soon, followed by the less expensive 1200g at the end of the year, but maybe i don't need one as i don't dj, plus they are highly expensive is the rumour.
I would like a quality era correct sound turntable with high warmth & ambience from our vinyl collection. I dont know if the new turntables these days sound the same.? Needing extra phono stages etc for that warm sound. Ive heard they sound very clean & crisp but not the old sound..? Im confused.. Im also keen on a bent tone arm design turntable.
Kind regards.
