So I got this used phono stage. It makes the speakers hum. A high frequency hum. Whether it's turned on or not.
It's got a polar switch in the back. Doesn't make any difference.
As soon as it's hooked up the speakers will hum. No matter which input is selected on the upstream pre. Only stops if I unhooked it OR took off the power cord from it.
Tried unhooking the turntable cable from the phono. It makes the speakers hum just the same.
The hum is not too loud but not inaudible either. Its volume is not affected by the volume control.
What could be the cause?
