So lately i have been thinking about driver inductance and trying to understand what affect it has, or even if any affect exist. But considering it is always given on spec sheets there must be a reason to it.
Looking at driver specs and it is seen that voice coil inductance varies by big margins. For instant one make of 12inch woofer will have an inductance of 2mH while another may have 0.2mH.
So at first i thought large inductance was required to attain large magnetic field strength, Teslas right? But looking at the formulas for both parameters and it can be seen they are not interrelated. Rather inductance just decreases as the width of a voice increases for a constant coil length, number of turns and material. Where as keeping these coil properties constant we maintain the same tesla.value.
So voice coil inductance will attenuate frequencies above a certain point, but what other affects are there?
