Phono pre amp quesrion

I am currently using my old trusty Luxman C03 pre amp . It is late 80s and I am sure phono stage technology has climbed leaps and bounds since then .
The only free input on my luxman is Tuner. Can I use the tuner input for the phono stage with no degradation in sound?
