I'm having a bit of a dilemma around replacing or re-coning drivers - now I know maybe a few of you will scoff, well maybe even a lot of you... it's for a pair of Bang & Olufsen Beovox S-120. I just picked up a pair, with one dead woofer (completely dead, not just a problem with foam rot).
These are 8" woofers - and they actually measure up at 8" unlike most woofers these days which seem to be somewhat bigger. So this narrows down the pool for potential replacements a little, as these are mounted internally in a special bracket, which if I remove some bits, I can get up to 210mm max. Current woofers are 205mm. Will cost around $100 per woofer to re-cone.
Thoughts? Re-cone or replace?
