Regretfully, I am offering for sale my Michelle Orbe SE Turntable.

Included is the latest Michelle 'Never-Connected' Generation 2 Mains Isolation Power supply

It is the turntable only and does not include a tonearm or cartridge.

It is in excellent condition with no blemishes - it looks new.

I do not really need to explain anything about the quality and calibre of this turntable.

Much is written on the internet in reviews and forums about the Orbe.

Suffice to say it is one of the best sounding high-end turntables available in the world.

Michelle Engineering is a highly respected English brand who does not change the specs on its turntables or produce new models very often.

The reason for this is because the Gyrodec and Orbe have been evolved over many years and have achieved a level where improving them further is very difficult.

Personally, I love the way that this turntable just gets out of the way of the music.

It doesn't seem to have an easily discernible character or sonic signature of its own to inject into the playback system.

I have found it very difficult to find turntables that have this ability and I believe that this is the primary objective of any high-end design.

The rare moments that I have witnessed this 'sonic invisibility' in analogue audio have always been in systems running turntables many multiples more expensive than the Orbe.

You can really hear the differences in tonearms & cartridges but more importantly, the sound is amazing.

I also feel that it an extremely beautiful design.

High end audio ownership is always more satisfying if the equipment looks gorgeous, isn't it?

This is a 'final-destination turntable' on many levels.

Some design features to note:

  • Spider double chassis, suspended pendulum subchassis
  • Damped subchassis
  • 60 mm thick massive acrylic/vinyl platter of high inertia
  • Screw-down record clamp
  • Inverted bearing
  • Custom arm boards available for most tonearms
  • High-quality standalone DC motor with tacho feedback speed control
  • Orbe Controller NC supply with Never-Connected circuit
  • Optional dust cover
  • Weight 13.5 kg
  • Dimensions 49cm (w) x 37.5cm (d) x 15cm (h)

Some important points:

  • The Michelle plastic dust cover is included in the sale (not in the photos).
  • Please note that in the photos, it is sitting on a Minus K isolation Platform.
  • The Minus K is available separately and is not included in this offer & price.
  • Also, the custom made acrylic dust cover shown in the photos is not included in this sale, possibly available separately.

Finally:

I am in the middle of a long-term renovation and spend all my available time raising my 2 boys - homework, soccer training weekend sports, etc

As a result, I have accepted that it will be some time before I have the space in my life to indulge in the sort of music exploration that I used to.

Therefore, a while ago I decided to raise funds by selling my system and this is one of the last remaining components.

So the reason for selling is simply under-use.

I will be making a nice donation to StereoNet.

I live in Hampton, Melbourne however I am happy to send anywhere Australia-wide.

Happy to answer questions for prospective buyers.

ENJOY!

George.

PS. Does anyone know how to rotate uploaded photos?
