Aerodynamic Speaker ports = Gimmick ?

Aerodynamic Speaker ports, genuine improvement or gimmick ?

Pmc has recently released the new Twenty5 series of speakers. These use a "Laminair port". B&W have for a long time used a dimpled "flow port"

Both these ports are supposably designed to improve airflow or at least reduce speaker pressure. I would think there are many more manufactures that I'm not aware of that use special ports offering improved sound.

After extensive scientific test on the amount of airflow traveling through my speaker ports I determined that though there is airflow it is minimum (in the absence of a anemometer I held my hand in front of my PMC Twenty 22s and B&W 865s)

So how can a Aerodynamic device improve airflow when so very little airflow is present?

Im not saying these ports do or don't work, I'm just interested to know the answer from those of you that understand the science.
