Hi All,
I'm thinking of building a multi-DAC multi-Amplifier set of active speakers. Much along the lines of Meridian DSP speakers.
This might sound a bit hare-brained, but this is what I'm thinking.
A source with two SPDI/F outputs (I have this already), then:
Each channel would consist of:
A magic box with one SPDI/F input, and four SPDI/F outputs. The magic box would have to decode and re-encode the SPDI/F into the following streams.
- Right High
- Right Mid
- Right Low
- Right Sub
There would then be a DAC and a power amplifier for each stream, four sets per channel. Each DAC would only need to process one channel and one frequency band, as would each amp.
So, what I need some advice on is the magic box. Would some form of MiniDSP be able to do the SPDI/F decoding and re-encoding? What else is out there that could do this sort of thing?
I suppose the magic box could have four I2S outputs instead of SPDI/F.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Jason.
