Dear Stereo net,
Just wanting to pick your brains on the crossover topic if i may.
Ive still got a pair of these old some 3 way speakers from 1997 bought new with the Hi-Fi its self would have been roughly $600-$700 it was fairly top in its class for an all in one. I think the main unit was an LBT-N455
Anyway, Ive taken the speakers apart just to have a look at the condition
and was expecting to see a decent sized cross over lurking in the back separating the range of frequencies to the drivers.
after pulling back some baffle foam i notices that the main input to these speakers just has 1 small cap that sends the signal to the mid's and tweets ( even then they are fed off each other )
and then just 1 cable that isn't connected to the Cap just send to the main driver.
I can't really remember if these ever sounded any good in their day . but was just 1 cap sufficient in this set up???
most other crossovers I've seen are way more intricate and complex with many more parts.
however for an $600 roughly that was bought by my folks back in the mid 90's i kinda feel a bit ripped off .
Below are some pics
Cheers
