power amp low buzz burson timekeeper

sup guys.

I have a burton audio timekeeper with the virtuoso dac/pre.

there is a very low buzz coming out of both speakers, which is coming from the power amp.

I can live with it, in fact it is so low I don't even really notice it - until I turn the thing off and then I notice silence.

Really, I am just curious, as this is my first pre/power separates. I have some other decent gear (this is my desktop system) and have owned some good stuff over the years (valve and SS amps) and I have never noticed anything like this.

So I am wondering is this normal/acceptable with this kind of amp?

I've searched and read a lot of threads here with similar questions and it seems often down to cables or grounding. I've tried a couple of different RCA cables (generic cheap/Blue Jeans and the supplied cable, which looks like a respectable step up from cheap, but not as nice as the Blue Jeans RCA)

Changing cables does nothing, because it's obviously the power amp feeding the speakers that is causing it, I can turn off the pre amp and the buzzing persists.

cheers

edit: speaker cables btw are as cheap as can be, very thin and bare, no plugs/spades. I do plan to get something better soon enough.
