Here is the latest prototype of the LOMC AD797 phono stage, it's a step up from the earlier versions having a few new features, it's easy to build and the parts are easy to source, the earlier versions have been compared favorably to some of the higher end commercial stages so I have no doubt this one will exceed expectations.
Features:
Gain and impedance changes on the fly using trimmers.
AD797 & LME49990 op amps.
Extensive supply rail bypassing with capacitors and isolating resistors to lower noise and get the best stability.
Can be run off batteries (SLA's or LiOn etc), or a low noise split rail PSU, there is one designed for it that's easy to build also. It can be run of an 12 - 15v AC wall wart or a small 12 - 15v transformer.
Commercially made PCB's like the one you see can be made for it if there are enough takers.
When I put this one in a case I will make it available for loan so people can test it out and give a review good or bad.
I will look into the cost of having more PCB's made if there is enough interest and Stereo.net.au has approved the sale of PCB's, non profit of course, and I have suggested that an amount be included as a donation to Stereo.net.au to help with the associated costs in running such a great forum.
