I just found out last night over at Headfi that all the 2016 production LCD series of headphones have had a new thinner driver installed inside them. So if you've auditioned older phones, it night be an idea to re audition the newer ones if you were on the fence before. Only way to tell what headphones you have is by the authenticity card inside. Thankfully my newly acquired LCD 2's fall into this category, mine were inspected on the 16th of March this year and shipped from Audeze on the 18th (an email confirmed this) and are indeed their revamped model.
And all recent LCD headphones no longer get shipped with a bottle of wood treatment for the wood on the headphones. They are all uv treated at the factory now so they only require a clean with a soft dry cloth.
It's funny actually, when I received mine I was wondering where the little bottle of oil was, being as I'd seen unboxings online and they all had it, but at the same time, looking at mine, they have a gloss Finnish on them that an oil wouldn't penetrate anyway, so now I know the answer![;)]()
