Hi all,
With the acquisition of my new speakers I have noticed an awful resonance type sound at a certain frequency . I would say its somewhere in the upper bass region. It sometimes won't be noticeable for a couple of cd's and even then,it might only show up on 1 or 2 tracks when I come across an album.
I'll start this off by saying that I think the Lenehan ML3 Reference are fantastic and I love them except for an issue that has raised its very ugly head
I will also add that I don't think its the speakers fault.
A brief introduction.........my man cave is 5m x 4m with timber floors, french doors ,a couple of windows with slimline blinds and a glass sliding door covered with to floor curtains. A few sets of speakers ago when I got a pair of Gallo Reference speakers I am pretty sure I had a similar issue and I made some bass traps and it fixed the problem nicely
From there,I had a pair of large Legacy Focus SE speakers in which I never had an issue with.
A few experiments....... tried a couple of different bookshelf speakers, placing on top of the ML3's and the same problem was evident. Moving them lower to sit on top of lowline unit and the problem was waaay less.
Sooo, its a room issue right??? Why is it then that my previous Gallo's and Legacys were fine in my room and now with the ML3's in the same general area they are exciting a frequency. A speaker placed on top of ML3 will excite as well
Have tried moving the ML3's as much as possible(that 6ft cable will allow) but the problem is still there.
I tamed it slightly by moving my recliner closer to rear wall but overall, that doesn't seem to sound as nice
Its so grating I play a cd now with great trepidation fearing the problem will show up
Any thoughts please guys??
