Item: Sansui TU-X1 Supertuner, modified by Stereo Surgeons of Connecticut

Location: Sydney
Price: uncertain at this point: >$2000, <$3000
Item Condition: FM is incredible - among the best at any price. AM is not working due to a failed, no longer available IC. Visual condition is superb near-new condition.
Reason for selling: One enhanced TU-X1 is enough - my other one may be the most realistic sounding FM tuner on the planet
Payment Method: Pickup preferred for cash. Shipping, double boxed, at cost, payment via PayPal or direct deposit
Extra Info:

For those who attended the tuner shootout at ASoN in 2014, this was the winning tuner, eclipsing most tuners, and on vote, preferred over a $12K Accuphase T-1100 and a $6K Magnum Dynalab T106 Triode. Phenomenal detail, stereo and 3D soundstage, mellifluous vocals, amazingly deep and articulate bass, you name it! Listening to jazz and classical broadcast concerts on this tuner is an absolute revelation and joy.

The AM is probably irreparable, unless you can isolate and replace the faulty IC functionality either by a direct replacement or by discrete components. Although the completely independent AM board in this tuner is an insanely overengineered beast, very few people use the AM on it anyway (On my even-more-expensive Joseph-Chow-Enhanced TU-X1, I don't even have the AM output hooked up to my amp!)

The tuner is physically huge, weighing in at 16.2 kg and measuring 480mm x 200mm x 450mm !

AM and FM are on completely independent circuit boards (one reached from above, the other from below). FM uses a 7-gang tuner
