Giving it a go....as I always do with ABC stuff.
So far I've watched the Ronny Chieng and Lawrence Mooney episodes.
Never been a fan of Chieng.
Seems to me he's always playing the race card too much.
"Uuuh uuuh I'm asian, I'm different, I'm not Chinese, uuuh uuuh"
All grunted with a semi-American accent.
Forced jokes and cery predictable,
Some comedians do "race humour" well (Akmal, Naseem Hussein to mention 2)
Chieng....never really floated any watercraft of mine.
The episode was typical cookie cutter "fish out of water" stuff to me.
Underdog wins and gets the girl.
Yawn
Lawrence Mooney,
Moonman
Mmmm
I like Mooney when he's got other people around him to bounce off.
Dirty Laundry Live is one of, if not THE best aussie panel show IMO.
Aussies can't do panel shows like the brits, let's face it.
The brits have it down pat, everyone's equal, everyone gets to have a go and take the p-ss
Here it seems there's always one that has to shout louder.
Mooney's stand-up routines are dreadful.
Seen so many where he pauses for laughter and all you hear is the sound of crickets....
Ok so I kinda liked his episode in the Showroom thing,
It was ok.
Not comedy gold by a country mile, but still better than the Chieng effort.
Will watch the rest and see how they go.
Anyone else watching?
